Environmental Initiatives
Environmental Action for 2030
We promote the reduction of environmental impact for co-prosperity with a sustainable society.
Actions are based on guidelines in each of the six areas, from production to disposal.
-
Reduction of greenhouse gas emissions
We will promote a phased reduction plan with a target of 50% renewable energy use by 2030.
Following the switch to 100% renewable energy electricity at the Fukuoka Branch in 2022, we will further reduce environmental impact. -
Recycling of factory waste
We will increase the ratio and level of recycling of factory waste and promote visualization and recycling in order to contribute to a recycling-oriented society.
-
Product packaging materials
We will switch to sustainable packaging materials for our main products by 2030.
In FY2021, 74% of new products were switched over. -
Product recycling
Starting with products manufactured in-house, we will strengthen our efforts to recover and recycle products.
We will establish a recycling flow in cooperation with partner companies with the target year of 2022. -
Low environmental impact of product materials
Based on the core issue [50% reduction of CO2 emissions in the razor industry by 2030], we will formulate an overall plan draft that includes materials, supply chain management, and waste management by the end of FY2022.
-
Responsible procurement
We promote CSR procurement and green purchasing toward a sustainable society.
We will request endorsement from suppliers, and visualization and operation will begin in FY2022.
Setting Goals to Reduce Greenhouse Gas Emissions
Report on greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from 2019 to 2021 for business establishments.
※Calculation period April 2019 to March 2022
※Includes Endo Saijiro Memorial Foundation for Science and Technology
※In the calculation of GHG emissions, we are cooperating with WasteBox Co.
※Emission factors for each year are used in the calculation of GHG emissions.
Reduction of product material environmental impacts
Use of Recycled Plastics
Environmental Contribution Element
Using recycled materials reduces the use of materials made from petroleum. Because petroleum (fossil fuel) is made from carbon (C) under the ground, when it is mined and burned, it increases greenhouse gases (CO₂) in the atmosphere and causes global warming. On the other hand, recycled plastics are made from carbon that is already in the ground, so it does not increase greenhouse gases (in terms of materials) in the ground and helps prevent global warming.

Use of Paper Materials
Environmental Contribution Element
The main body replaces the material with paper and reduces the plastic by 90%. Reducing the use of plastic from petroleum also reduces greenhouse gas emissions and helps prevent global warming.

Use of FSC - certified wood
Environmental Contribution Element
FSC is an international forest management certification. Using the wood from these forests leads to the sustainable conservation of forest resources. It also reduces the use of plastic and help prevent global warming because most other kitchen tool handles are made with plastic.

Use of a Single Material
Environmental Contribution Element
This product is mono materialized for easy material recycling. Many products have a plastic handle, but it is difficult to recycle because the metal and plastic are bonded. On the other hand, products made only of stainless steel are easier to recycle into stainless steel. Also, not using plastic leads to not using petroleum (as for the materials). The energy used in steel manufacturing will be lower CO₂. In the future, the environmental impact of stainless steels mono-materials is expected to decrease.

Replaceable
Environmental Contribution Element
Replaceable brushes on the resin part reduce the amount of material used for the handle.

Maintenance and long-term use
Environmental Contribution Element
Maintaining kitchen knives by sharpening and removing rust, and using them longer, reduces the energy consumed in manufacturing materials. Also, food cut with sharpened kitchen knives tastes more delicious.
Energy Efficient
Environmental Contribution Element
Cooking with microwave ovens reduces environmental impact. When cooking food, electricity is said to be more energy efficient than gas and makes a lower environmental impact (CO₂ emissions). Similarly, when boiling eggs, electricity makes a lower environmental impact than gas.
Product packaging materials
Paper Packaging
Environmental Contribution Element
The most common retail packaging is PET blister and PET boxes, which use a lot of plastic. Using paper materials reduces the use of plastic and greenhouse gas emissions and helps prevent global warming.
Efforts to reduce the number of parts
Environmental Contribution Element
Reduce the number of parts and environmental impact. PET box packaging is generally combined with a product backing card, but removing the backing card also reduces the materials used for the backing card and the energy used to manufacture and transport it.
Efforts to Reduce Weight
Environmental Contribution Element
Reducing the size of plastic parts reduces the use of plastic and greenhouse gas (CO₂) emissions and helps prevent global warming.
Minimum Package
Environmental Contribution Element
Minimizing the size of the package and reducing the use of plastic reduces greenhouse gas (CO₂) emissions and helps prevent global warming.
Items made with FSC-certified paper
Use FSC-certified paper, which leads to forest conservation

Use of recycled materials
Use of PET resins mixed with recycled materials to reduce greenhouse gas (CO₂) emissions
The use of PET boxes and blisters made with 70% or 80% recycled PET material reduces greenhouse gas (CO₂) emissions by approximately 50% to 60% compared to material made with all plastic, contributing to the prevention of global warming.
